Connellan Airways: DH89 Dragon Rapide VH-AHI

Cleanliness of fuel was a big issue for Connellan Airways, with refuelling away from base at Alice Springs mostly being done from dumps of 44 gallon dums. An elaborate filter system was employed to remove possible water and sediment contamination. The filter is seen in the photo above sitting on the nacelle tank of DH89 Dragon Rapide VH-AHI whilst being refuelled at Mt Doreen Station, NT, in 1955.

Another shot of one of Connellan Airways' Dragon Rapides being refuelled from drums. Neither the location or date of this photo are known.
