Australia's Civil Empire Flying Boats & their Bases
A Special Photographic Exhibition at the Airways Museum

The 2006 Open Day at the Airways Museum saw the unveiling of a Special Exhibition of photos and artefacts covering
Australia's Civil Empire Flying Boats & their Bases
.

Much of the Exhibition is drawn from rare pre-War photos held in the CAHS' John G Walker and Ivan Hodder Collections.

Johnny Walker was one of the original Aeradio Operators sent to Karumba, Qld, in 1938 whilst Ivan Hodder was a DCA Radio Engineer who helped to establish the Flying Boat Bases at Darwin, Groote Eylandt, Karumba and Sydney/Rose Bay (among others).

The images on this page provide a taste of the material in the Exhibition.
