Airways Museum Virtual Tour - Essendon Tower Console 1946

On display in the Orientation Area is the original console from the 1946 Essendon Control Tower. The console provided basic controls for the Tower radios, plus a limited number of intercoms to other on-airport units, such as the fire service.

The console is not quite as it was in Essendon (then Melbourne) Tower, because after the replacement of this Tower in 1956 the console was removed, modified and re-installed at the Wynyard, Tas, Flight Service Unit.
