De Havilland DH60 Moth VH-UAO

After wartime service, DH60 Moth A7-92 was sold for £100 by the Commonwealth Disposals Commission to J K Vine of Vine Motors, Perth, in April 1945. It was then on-sold, being restored to the civil Register as VH-UAO on 26 March 1946 to John Lane of Kalgoorlie. It has since had a series of private owners, spending periods on and off the Register, and residing until recently in Western Australia. The photo above shows VH-UAO in its post-War guise at Maylands c.1960.

The photos above and below show VH-UAO a decade later in the 1970s. The upper photo shows the aircraft under a stormy sky at its then base at Peringellup, WA, on 2 February 1974. The lower photo shows it at historic Langley Park 'aerodrome' in the middle of the Perth CBD. As part of the Aviat 70 celebrations the aircraft re-enacted West Australian Airways' first service, which took place from Langley Park in 1921.

The aircraft has since been painted in its original RAAF colours as A7-9.
