Drover VH-BMU photographed at Brisbane whilst with DCA. Note the spinnerless Fairey-Reed fixed-pitch metal propellers, indicating conversion to Mk 1F standard. Throughout its early life the Drover was plagued with propeller problems resulting in the loss of at least two aircraft, including DCA Drover VH-DHA. The fixed-pitch propellers substantially reduced performance compared with the earlier constant-speed units (see top photo).
