Film Night at the Airways Museum


Historical aviation films from the Civil Aviation Historical Society's archive will be shown in our first Film Night for 2008 at the Airways Museum.

Decade in the Air (1955) B&W 10 min

A short film about the achievements and functions of ICAO during its first decade, 1945-55. Lots of footage of period airliners, including Australia which played an important part in the formation and early years of ICAO.


The Air Age: The First 50 years of flying
(1953) B&W 22 min

A film summarising the first 50 years of flying, particularly in the USA. Lots of interesting and historic footage of civil and military subjects.


Tomorrow By Air
(c.1948) B&W 20 min

Aviation in the British Empire from the beginning to the verge of the jet age. Features historic footage from the '30s, particularly the Empire Flying Boats, and post-war airliner developments including the SARO Princess and Bristol Brabazon.
