Hamilton Passenger Terminal - 1985

Hamilton

The Sir R.M. Ansett Passenger Terminal at Hamilton, Victoria, is seen above on 25 April 1985. The building was constructed in 1980 and named in memory of Sir Reg Ansett who operated his initial airline services between Hamilton and Melbourne (although using an earlier aerodrome closer to town). On 17 February 2006, former Ansett Airways Douglas DC-3 VH-ABR Kanana operated a flight from Melbourne to Hamilton and return to commemorate the 70th anniversary of that first Ansett service.

The DC-3 is seen below on the apron at Hamilton. Ansett itself had long ceased operating to Hamilton and went into recievership in 2001. By 2006, the Hamilton passenger Terminal had become home to Sharp Airlines, a Hamilton-based regional operator.
