This
rare 1978 photo, taken across the Royal Victorian Aero Club's apron at Melbourne's
Moorabbin (Harry Hawker) General Aviation Airport, shows two Control Towers. In
the foreground is the original 1949 structure with the 1962 Tower cab on top,
whilst In the background is the new 1977 Control Tower. The old Tower was demolished
shortly afterwards and the new Tower remains there to this day (2005).
The
aircraft, all unidentified, are, from nearest, a Piper PA-32 Cherokee Six, a Cessna
182 Skylane, a Cessna 150 and a Beech 36 Bonanza. |
