One of DCA's airways survey Fokker F-27 Friendships frames the Mackay, Qld, Control Tower and Terminal on a wet day in the 1960s.

This Tower followed an earlier style in being built into the roof of the airport's Terminal/Operations Building. The masts at the four corners of the Tower balcony are VHF radio antennas.

This Tower was replaced by a more conventional free-standing Tower in July 1972.
