2010 Airways Museum Open Day


The 2010 Airways Museum Open Day was held on Saturday 13 November. The theme of the day was the history of the Aviation Rescue and Fire Fighting Service (ARFF). Despite constant rain, over 240 visitors attended the event which also saw the opening of a new photographic exhibition on the history of the ARFF. The photo above shows some of the visitors. Also to be seen are the new wall in the exhibition area at the far end of the foyer, and some ARFF uniforms displayed on our newly-acquired mannequins.

 


Airservices Australia generously supported the Open Day by providing two fire vehicles and crews, including one of the latest Mk 8 Rosenbauer Panther Ultra Large Fire Vehicles, seen above.

Superintendent Les Heath from Melbourne Airport Fire Station gave two illustrated presentations on the history of the ARFF. Both played to a packed house, as seen below.
