Avro 652A Anson I VH-CAD (c/n R3/LW/96790) was DCA's utility aircraft based at Adelaide/Parafield until withdrawn from service on 14 September 1960. It was parked at Parafield, stripped for parts and burnt for fire practice in August 1962.

These sad photos of the were taken during that year. The shot above was taken in May by future Air Traffic Controller and aviation historian Geoff Goodall "on my first bicycle visit to Parafield". The shot below was taken on 3 September after the immolation. Note that in the lower photo the aircraft's wooden wings have been completely consumed whereas the steel-tube fuselage frame and engine mounts have survived. Both shots clearly show VH-CAD still carrying the DCA Flying Unit logo on the nose.

DCA's Ansons were replaced by modern Aero Commanders.
